We are a 100% volunteer-run farm and welcome individuals and groups of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

Individuals & families
We host regular public volunteer events at our working farm and orchard.
All ages are welcome and no experience is necessary!
All volunteers are required to read & sign our annual Terms of Participation and Waiver of Liability form.

Hey businesses, schools, clubs, and community organizations! Planning a field trip or team-building event for your group of 8+ people?
We’d love to host you for a fun, hands-on experience that connects volunteers to the earth and our food system in meaningful and memorable ways.
Smaller groups may register as individuals for any upcoming public events.

Where is the farm located?The veggie field is located at 173 Buckley Road in San Luis Obispo. Our field is behind the office for Thousand Hills Pet Resort. Please drive slowly through the parking lot, follow the signs, and carpool if possible.

Where is the orchard located?The orchard is located at 835 Sherpa Ranch Road in San Luis Obispo.

Do I need farm experience to volunteer at the field?No experience necessary! All skill levels are welcome. Not sure where to start? Sign up for a harvest!

What are the age limits for volunteering?All ages are welcome! We ask that an adult attend with any volunteers 15 and younger.

What should I wear to the farm?We've got the gardening gloves, tools, and snacks. You'll want to bring... a full water bottle long pants sturdy, closed-toe shoes a hat sunglasses sunscreen & bug spray and a positive attitude :-) Seriously folks, stay hydrated out there!

What do volunteers do at the farm and orchard?Farm Care There's a lot that goes into running a farm. From starting seeds to running irrigation to pruning fruit trees to maintaining tools to battling weeds and pests, there is no shortage of projects for volunteers! Harvest Picking and packing our first-quality produce for distribution across the county. Admin & Leadership Organizing the teams that keep our field and non-profit operations moving.

Are restrooms available on the farm?Yes, we have a portable restroom facility.

Is there anyone who can sign my service hours log?We're happy to help! Ask your Harvest or Farm Care Leader at the end of the event.
